FUN Weekend!!!

As sad as it was to have the season end the way it did; I am glad for one thing. Time. It's amazing to me, the things that I am able to get done and still have time to do fun things now that I don't have practice. I now have 4 extra hours a day. I love that! But, I do miss my crazy, fun and amazing teammates.
I had a great weekend! Started with getting my hair done, I felt that I had been waiting forever to get it done. I love it and I couldn't be happier with Karin's work, truly. Friday night, I did something I have never done before... 10 Pin Bowling. Yes, that's right. I've never been 10 pin bowling. I've only had the pleasure of 5 pin bowling at good ol' Shamrock Lanes in Airdrie. It was so fun! I sucked, but it was so much fun. I went with Karin, Cole, Zach, Nin and Jordan Maxwell.

Then on Saturday... I had an awesome experience at the Festival of Colors! It was so much fun. Really messy and extremely unique but... so much fun. I don't even know how to describe it. But, it is a whole lot of people, a lot of chalk, indian food, live band, witch burning, lamas, hare krishna and all that jazz. There was this one point where everyone is on this hill listening to this ceremony and we count down from 10 and EVERYONE throws up their chalk. It was so cool but... border line scary. You stand there and you cannot see the sun, you can barely see the people around you, you can't really breathe because the chalk coats your throat and overall it is a very surreal feeling. It was fun to see so many different people from a lot of different places all celebrating one thing and just enjoying themselves. I went with a great group of people and had the best time. After we all showered and got cleaned up we went to the Nickelcade! Even though it smells like sweaty people and greasy pizza, it is a great place. Once you become immune to the smell, it is so fun to play all the different games. Although, I do say this with a heavy heart, me a canadian LOST to an american playing air hockey. That part wasn't so fun.
Kim and I. Still clean... before all the madness.

The crew and one of Satan's minions aka. Zach Thomas (second from the right). Okay, Nin is pretty scary too...
SOO fun!! Hare Krishnaaaa

A little change..

Alright. So, forever ago I blogged about how much I disliked the color of my hair. It honestly was red... like, copper red. Here's the reason why... When I first went dark the hair dresser said that in order for it to look good she would need to put a 'filler' on it, this filler was literally the color of a penny. So, after I had stopped dying it, the color faded and all that was left was the 'penny' color. Not so cute. I'm not a ginger! Even if I wanted to be, I couldn't pull it off. So, I knew that as soon as season was over, I needed to make a change...

My roommate and good friend Karin goes to school at Paul Mitchell. The school is about 10 minutes away from my house, it's a great deal and she is amazing at doing hair. I couldn't ask for anything better. So, I went on over today and she worked miracles.... let me know what you think :)

These pictures really don't do it justice. I honestly love the color because it is really natural looking! Karin did exactly what I wanted. I love it!!

Susie Q at BYU!

The spunky blonde in the back, is that not my mom?

So, my good friend Dan Schow was looking at my pictures and told me how this one cheerleader looked a lot like my mom. I went and looked at the picture and laughed so hard because... it IS my mom.  I love it when stuff like this happens, it's hilarious. It's scary how much it looks like my mom!!!

(there ya' go mom, funny huh?)

Guess what?

I GET TO GO HOME IN A MONTH!!!
I am honestly so excited to go home. I was sitting in one of my classes last week and I was just kind of thinking about how much I miss my family. This summer is going to be so important for me from a basketball standpoint, so I am going to need to be here in Provo most of the summer to stay in shape and work on my game. It will be fun down here, no doubt, but I am kind of sad because I do really miss my home. I was only able to be at home for Christmas for 4 days and as awesome as it was, 4 days was just too short to fully enjoy it. I am so excited though! It will be a good break between semesters, I will get to see my sisters and a lot of my family. Can't wait!

Here are some of the things I miss the most...

The beauty... okay, well I HOPE there is NO snow. But, I really do love Canada.. It's so pretty.

My parentals. Cute picture, isn't it?

My sisters! I get to see Mackenzie a lot more than Cait, Meag and Sarah.. so, I am excited to see them all!

My friends. I realize that most of the people in this picture are either getting married or are on missions but, I do miss my friends. Had a lot of good times with these people growing up. Oh and SHOUT OUT TO MY GOOD FRIEND JOEL KAY... He was just called to serve a mission in ALBANIA!! How crazy is that? So proud of you Joel.

Beautiful Girl

Today was quite the day. I was in study hall having a grand ol' time (can you sense the sarcasm?) and Alexis text me saying that her hair was starting to fall out. I, along with everyone else, knew that this day would come but I still was in a little bit of disbelief. When she said it was falling out, I had imagined just a few strands had come out.
After I finished my studying, I drove up to the Kaufusi home to see Fus. When I came in she said... "Wanna see a trick?"... she started to pull on her hair and the entire chunk that she was pulling on, came out. No, not just a few strands; the whole chunk. I had no idea how to react, I really was not expecting to see that much hair come out so easily. Alexis' mom called the doctors to let them know that her hair was beginning to fall out and they gave the go ahead to shave it all off.

I got to cut off a little bit of her hair before we buzzed it. It was one of the weirdest feelings ever! After the first snip... it was kinda fun and I wanted to cut some more, but all the people there got a chance to chop some of her lovely locks.

"Beautiful Girl"- William Fitzsimmons .... really good song! It's on Fus' blog.

I can't imagine having to lose my hair. I go everyday having different complaints about my hair, but I have never thought about not having it... Tonight was a very humbling experience as I sat and watched a very special person in my life shave all of hers off. There were so many emotions as we witnessed this girl do something that so many of us would dread doing. Fus amazes me every single day... she is so strong and so brave! She knew that shaving her head was just a part of the process and did it with an undaunted disposition.
I love this girl so much! She is so beautiful and pulls off the buzz cut better than anyone I know. No one and certainly no cancer will ever be able to take away her contagious smile and spunky personality. Fus will have her 2nd treatment of chemo tomorrow (2 of 6)! A third of the way done! Keep this beautiful girl in your thoughts and prayers!!

Another thing I thought I should mention...

For those that know me pretty well... I've never really been the biggest 'cat' person. I'm more of a dog or horse person and when Fus got this little kitty, I was a little skeptical. However, I have to admit that I have really grown to love this creature. Don't get me wrong, this relationship definitely took some time and she bit me twice when we first met... But now... our relationship has truly blossomed. This cat never gives me dirty looks (most cats do), she never bites me, she purrs when I pet her and she calms everybody's nerves. Porsche is a good kitty and.... she's pretty dang cute too.

ALSO....

The BYU Women's Team is competing in the WNIT! So, keep updated on how we're doing and keep cheering on the lady coug's!!!!

Fun

Hey... So, I'm just teaching my good ol' pal HALEY HALL how to blog... so, enjoy this.

Oh by the way... this is Haley's little boy.

The Power of Planning..

Okay, I know that teachers, parents and other mentors have counseled me for YEARS to plan and develop the ability to manage my time... and I must confess that I have never truly bought into it. I knew it was right and I knew that if I would do it I would greatly reduce the amount of stress in my life. What is my deal!?
However, as of a few days ago... I've had a change of action. I sat down and planned out my days by the HOUR! You see, I've always been really good at writing lists out of the things that I need to get done. The only problem with that, is that it is easy to not do those things. Another problem that I have is the inability to say NO to things. I am social and there is nothing I love more than to laugh and have a good time! But, I've come to the realization that those laughs don't come without a price. I'm sick of paying that price by always stressing and overloading my mind with things that I need to get done with very little time on my hands. The new solution is to plan, plan, plan and plan some more! I am sorry to those that have told me until they were blue in the face to "be disciplined" and to "manage my time well".... I WAS listening, I just chose not to do it. Forgive me, I've learned my lesson and I have made an affirmation with myself to set aside an hour or two a day to plan out the days to come.
One of my coaches has always said that preparation is the key, not only to success, but confidence. It is easy to find confidence when you have prepared yourself for things! Even though I am a terrible test taker, I do approach a test with a lot more confidence when I have prepared. With basketball also, I feel more confident going to a game when I know exactly what the game plan is.
Anyways... this is MY new gameplan. So, if any of you that are reading this see me not following through. Call me out on it, please!!

On another note.... something that has brought me great joy and A LOT of laughter lately is....
